Milestones in our company’s history
1979 – Founding of ELEKTRA
ELEKTRA Gesellschaft für elektrotechnische Geräte mbH was founded by Horst Ehlebracht and Jürgen Heitmann. From the very beginning, the company has been committed to combining technology and practical application in a meaningful way and developing practical lighting solutions.

1983 – Entry into the furniture lighting sector
At its first interzum exhibition, which took place under the umbrella of ENORM, ELEKTRA unveiled its first built-in furniture light. This marked the start of the systematic development of the lighting division for furniture, which continues to define the company to this day.
1987 – Establishment in the furniture industry
ELEKTRA is exhibiting for the first time with its own stand at interzum in Cologne, positioning itself as a reliable partner for furniture manufacturers and the furniture supply industry.
1989 – Internationalisation
The company is actively expanding its international sales operations. ELEKTRA now supplies lighting solutions and furniture lighting to around 55 countries worldwide.
1994 – Light + Project
Expansion of the portfolio to include project solutions for commercial, retail and interior fit-out. ELEKTRA develops lighting systems for holistic spatial and usage concepts.
2001 – System innovation
With its patented mini plug-in system, ELEKTRA is setting new standards in the installation of furniture lighting. The system offers easy installation, high safety and maximum flexibility.
2005 – Expansion of system solutions
Further development of the mini plug-in system, as well as the introduction of innovative lighting solutions such as the illuminated light panel. ELEKTRA is thus strengthening its position as a supplier of integrated lighting systems for furniture.
From 2009 – Focus on LED technology
ELEKTRA is investing early on in the development of ultra-slim, efficient and long-lasting LED lighting solutions for furniture and interiors.
2024 – International growth
The establishment of the US subsidiary and international design and quality awards underscore ELEKTRA’s commitment to innovation.
Today – Lighting Solutions
